Licensing Information

All images purchased on The Indie Stock are non-exclusive images. This means that license holders, regardless of the license purchased, do not have exclusive rights to the content and other customers may license the same image.

 STANDARD LICENSE

A standard license will be suitable for most instances, such as eBook/book cover design, illustrative design, and editorial content.

  1. Digital advertising on social media and websites as well as blog posts and editorial pieces.
  2. Print copies. A standard license will give you up to 250,000 print copies. (If you plan on using an image for a paperback version of your book and expect to sell more than 250,000 books you will require a mass market license. See below for details).
  3. Websites, blogs and eBooks. A standard license will give you unlimited digital impressions on websites, blogs, and eBooks.
  4. Unlimited projects. The license holder can use the image with a standard license on multiple projects. 
  5. Usage. The image cannot be used in any digital or printed media or format that breaches the prohibited terms which are detailed below.
  6. Re-sale. If you are producing work with the intent on reselling, (such as pre-made book covers) a standard license is limited to one project and one customer only. A standard license is not sufficient for use in any digital art or templates that can be or will be, resold or distributed in any way.

EXTENDED LICENSE

An extended license is the next level up from the standard license and should be used if you are purchasing images to create products that can be sold such a memorabilia, apparel, branded goods, art or stationary.

  1. Digital advertising on social media and websites as well as blog posts and editorial pieces.
  2. Print copies. A standard license will give you up to 250,000 print copies. (If you plan on using an image for a paperback version of your book and expect to sell more than 250,000 books you will require a mass market license. See below for details).
  3. Websites, blogs and eBooks. An extended license will give you unlimited digital impressions on websites, blogs, and eBooks.
  4. Unlimited projects. The license holder can use the image with an extended license on multiple projects.
  5. Usage. The image cannot be used in any digital or printed media or format that breaches the prohibited terms which are detailed below.
  6. Re-sale. If you are producing work with the intent on reselling, (such as pre-made book covers or digital templates) an extended license is required.

MASS MARKET LICENSE.

A mass market license is the next level up from the extended license and should be used if you are planning on selling more than 250,000 copies of prints.

  1. Digital advertising on social media and websites as well as blog posts and editorial pieces.
  2. Print copies. A mass market license is suitable for large markets and should be used if your digital art will be printed more than 250,000 times.
  3. Websites, blogs and eBooks. A mass market license will give you unlimited digital impressions on websites, blogs, and eBooks.
  4. Unlimited projects. The license holder can use the image with a mass market license on multiple projects.
  5. Usage. The image cannot be used in any digital or printed media or format that breaches the prohibited terms which are detailed below.
  6. Re-sale. If you are producing work with the intent on reselling, an extended or mass market license is suitable.

PROHIBITED TERMS

The Indie Stock prohibits the use of either licensed or unlicensed images to be used in any media or format that could be deemed offensive in a court of law. These include:

  1. The use of images depicting acts of terror or terrorism.
  2. The use of images depicting scenes of a sexual nature.
  3. The use of images in any material supporting acts of crime or criminal organisations.

The Indie Stock prohibits the illegal distribution of images licensed from The Indie Stock in any format, including but not limited to:

  1. Online file sharing websites.
  2. Hosted file sharing services.
  3. File sharing software.
  4. Private file sharing websites and/or private hardware/software.

The Indie Stock prohibits the transferring, distribution, reselling, renting, hosting & exchanging of licensed or unlicensed images in any way. All licenses are for use by the license holder only and under no circumstances can licenses be transferred.
